Our Dream Project – Chetna Special School
Chetna Education Society was started by members of Sankalp Theatre, a well-known performing art group. They raised funds for the society through drama shows and ‘Lucky Donation Coupons’, and were able to buy a 10,200 square meter plot of land to establish a spacious and sophisticated school for special children.
The estimated cost of the school building project, including a hostel facility, was approximately Rs. 9.66 crores (at 2015 prices). Despite funding constraints, we prioritized the urgent need for a special school with a rehabilitation centre and decided to proceed with the first phase of construction. We successfully completed the first phase and started the school in the new premises on 26th February 2023.
Our school is proud to have established Goa’s first sensory dark room, designed to provide a calming and soothing environment for students.
Our school offers a specially designed sandpit for tactile play and creativity, and a sensory path with diverse textures and sensations, promoting sensory exploration and discovery for our students.
At our special school in Goa, we’ve launched the first Braille library, empowering visually impaired students with access to a wide range of Braille materials and resources that foster their educational and personal development.
